A note from the booth

I built this booth to answer a small question: would strangers still choose to be kind if there was nothing in it for them? The ledger keeps the running score — — entries so far. If that number is small, you're early. If it's large, you're in excellent company. Either way, it only moves in one direction.

Full disclosure, because candor is house policy: right now, tolls keep one very real human's lights on while he builds things like this booth. As the ledger grows, so does the plan — funding small, documented acts of kindness for strangers who never see them coming. If you pay a toll this early, you're not just an entry in the ledger. You're the proof the whole idea works.

Art. I Is this a registered charity?

It is not, and it will never claim to be. The Good Karma Toll Booth is a satirical, for-fun project. Your toll is not tax-deductible, and no charitable status is implied. Consider it a tip jar for the universe, operated by one person with a ledger.

Art. II Where does the money actually go?

Two places, in this order. Today: it keeps the booth's one human operator on the road — rent, groceries, the electric bill behind this very page. The booth states this plainly because candor is cheaper than marketing. As the ledger grows: a growing share funds small, documented acts of kindness for strangers — paid the same way you paid your toll. For no reason. On purpose.

Art. III Do I get guaranteed good luck?

No outcomes are promised — lucky, cosmic, or otherwise. What you demonstrably receive: one numbered ledger entry, one certificate, and the specific, well-documented satisfaction of having been generous when nobody was checking.

Art. IV Can I get a refund?

Tolls are voluntary and final — one does not ask the universe for karma back. Please pay only what you're genuinely happy to give away. If a payment ever goes technically wrong, reply to your certificate email and a real human will make it right.

Art. V Why does this exist?

Curiosity. Someone wanted to know what would happen if the internet had one small, honest gate where people could choose to be kind on purpose, for nothing. You, reading this, are the experiment working.
